How to Clean Rubber Mats

After 3 years of BJJ training, I still prefer the firmer padding of interlocking martial arts puzzle mats to squishy and soft martial arts mats found in old school training centers. It’s because of their functionality when I moved the dojo into new location. It was easy to put them in my friend’s car. And when during the travel, my friend asking about how to clean the mat since his car mats also use rubber mats.

Car mats are a great way to protect your car's carpet. It is a popular choice for using rubber mats in the winter months, when more of ice, mud, dirt and other common contaminants that are likely to get into the carpet.

Here’s how to clean your car mats:

Start by removing the carpet and stains on them. This is easier to deal with carpet cleaning. Then scrape or wipe any residual material that remains. Plastic spatula makes a great scraper to remove stubborn stains!

Next, you should use the more gentle solution to remove stains. Let this be a soap and water to stand for about fifteen minutes and wipe with a damp sponge. If nothing happens, rent a machine for cleaning carpets and shampoo the rugs. Be sure to let the carpet dry outside.

Use a fan or hair dryer to dry the carpet inside. You must ensure that all the carpet is completely dry before placing the rug in place. If still damp, this could lead to mold inside your car. If they are difficult stains to remove, you may consider professional help.
